Morpho’s AI Technologies Adopted by Tokyo Weld for Image Inspection System: Contributing to the Development of Smart Factories by Utilizing AI x IoT

Tokyo, Japan – December 11th, 2020– Morpho, Inc. (hereinafter, “Morpho”), a global leader in image processing solutions and imaging AI solutions, announced today that its AI technologies has been adopted by Tokyo Weld Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Tokyo Weld”), a manufacturer of production equipment, for its image inspection system.

Tokyo Weld was convinced that Morpho’s AI technology is going to be the solution provided Morpho AI Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Morpho, which provides AI solutions in the field of industrial IoT.

The adopted AI technologies are good/bad image classification technology to detect defective (scratch, stain, crack, etc.) electronic components, an anomaly detection technology to detect unexpected anomalous images caused by contamination of different products or missing electrodes, and an AI training environment to generate training models for these technologies.

The classification and anomaly detection technologies utilize “SoftNeuro®”, the world class deep learning inference engine, to enable high-speed processing.

The introduction of Morpho’s AI technologies is expected to simplify the inspection process and reduce production cost. The image inspection system with these new functions will be installed in various inspection systems of Tokyo Weld, and test operations are scheduled to begin in preparation for its market launch.
